This weekend QNET will be a one of the main Sponsor of the Mater Heart Run event held in Kenya annually to raise funds for children suffering from Rheumatic Heart Disease and needing treatment or surgery.

Organised by the Mater Hospital in Kenya, this event is important because it enables heart surgery for children, which is otherwise a very expensive procedure. With the money raised last year 216 children received surgery and 10,500 children were able to receive screening through free Cardiac outreach camps.

The goal is to raise even more money this year to cater for more children and we sincerely hope that QNET’s Gold Sponsorship can help achieve this important goal.

The weekend is almost upon us as we approach one of the most exciting and historical races of the Formula 1 calendar, the 2013 F1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO race. Holding its inaugural race in 1929, the Circuit de Monaco is no stranger to Formula 1 sports, having a rich history of racing. With the Monaco Grand Prix arguably esteemed as one of the most famous F1 events on the calendar, the paddock will enjoy a thrilling weekend of F1 history in the making.

The Marussia F1 Team boys are charged and ready to go, preparing for their first debut F1 drives at the Circuit de Monaco. Jules Bianchi knows the area of Monaco very well, being native to the neighbouring city Nice, France. Having previously raced in Monaco in the junior formulae, he will be especially thrilled to be now racing at the highest level of motorsports to an audience of close family and friends. Bianchi clearly has very fond memories of this race, sharing, “When I was nine or ten years old and used to go to watch the Monaco Grand Prix, I could never have imagined that one day I would be racing here myself. It’s a unique race, a fantastic experience on and off the track and the atmosphere is very special.”

In light of the challenges faced in Spain, Marussia’s Team Principal John Booth commented on how tyre management will be a top priority in the Monaco race strategy for the team. Max Chilton has been preparing in the simulator, building confidence and excitement for the weekend. He shared, “I can’t wait for my first Monaco Grand Prix experience at the wheel of a Formula 1 car. It’s a fascinating track and everything can turn on a knife-edge because of factors like the close proximity of the barriers and the importance of qualifying ahead of our immediate competitors.”
